Well I previously asked what was ambient music, and got a whole range of answers. I’m gathering that it is layered/textural music with some kind of subtle groove in the rhythmic/bass aspect, without too much foreground interest in terms of melody, and certainly no text, and probably with some cool ‘atmospheric’ pads. Agree? What do we think of meditative music, and healing music as genres? Along those lines, what would we call music which is meant to affect the subconscious directly, without conscious attention and cognitive interpretation?
